Driver requirements
- All drivers must be at least twenty-three (23) years old upon the signature
date and shall possess a valid unendorsed driver's licence.
- The driver's license must have been valid for a minimum of two years.
- Expired drivers licenses will not be accepted.
- International driver's licenses must be in English
- All hirers will be required to produce a valid form of identification such
as an Identification Book or Passport.
- The driver must be in possession of his original driver's licence at all
times whilst driving the vehicle.
- The vehicle shall not be used or driven by the driver:
- for the conveyance of property or persons for hire;
- in contravention of any law;
- by any person who has given Vineyard Car Hire false information;
- in any race, speed test or contest;
- to propel or tow any other vehicle or trailer;
- on any road other than a recognised tarred or paved road.

Additional Drivers
- Additional drivers may only be nominated and authorised by the Hirer. The
additional driver(s) must meet
Vineyard Car Hire's Driver Requirements.
- There is no additional charge for the first two nominated drivers (the hirer included), thereafter, an additional driver once-off fee of R180 per driver is charged.
- Under no circumstances shall more than three (3) additional drivers be
authorised to drive the vehicle.
- Rental Agreements may not be altered by additional drivers.
- The Hirer is liable for all risks/charges applicable to usage of vehicle by
any additional driver.

- Payment is by embossed credit card (digits raised) only. Vineyard Car hire
accepts all major credit cards including Visa, MasterCard, Amex and Diners but
regrettably cannot accept debit cards, cheques or cash.
- The credit card holder must be the hirer and the credit card is not
transferable.
- The credit card holder must be present with his/her credit card on their
possession when signing the Rental Agreement.
- In the event that the credit card is due to expire during the course of the
hire, the new credit card (with new expiry date) must be presented at the
beginning of the hire.
- The payment process: The authorisation for the excess amount, regardless of
whether super cover is taken or not, will be collected from the bank twenty-four hours prior to the beginning of the rental. Please note that this
is not a debit. The actual debit to the credit card will only be done on return
of the vehicle and once the final cost has been calculated. The authorisation is
cancelled automatically when the card is debited.

- No vehicles may cross any RSA border.
- If the seal of the odometer is broken or has been tampered with, the hirer
shall be liable to pay Vineyard Car Hire an amount equivalent to the price per
kilometre, at the rate specified in 'APPLICABLE RATES' on the first page of the
Rental Agreement, multiplied by a factor of 300 km per day, in addition to daily
charges in terms of the Rental Agreement.
- In the event of a break-down (due to client error or negligence) or
accident, the hirer will be responsible for all resultant costs, including
towing.
- Petrol: All rates include maintenance and oil but petrol is not included.
Vehicles are supplied with a full tank of petrol at the start of the hire, and
on termination of the hire, the vehicle will be filled with petrol at the rate
as regulated by the South African government and the amount added to the final
account.

Daily Hire Charges
- The Rental Agreement shall commence upon the earlier of the signature date
or the departure date and shall continue until the return date or the date upon
which the vehicle is returned, whichever occurs later.
- The amount of days charged are calculated on a 24 hour period.
- The Rental Agreement may be extended for a period agreed to by both parties.
An extension means any extension of the hire period beyond the agreed return
date as reflected on the Rental Agreement and authorised by Vineyard Car Hire.
- In the event that the hire period is extended without Vineyard Car Hire's
prior consent, Vineyard Car Hire will consider this a breach of the Terms and
Conditions of the Rental Agreement and any form of cover will henceforth no
longer apply.

Cover (Insurance)
- All rates include Standard Cover plus an Excess (payable by the hirer) in
the event of an accident or theft.
- The Excess amount is the hirer's maximum liability in the event of an accident or theft.
- Standard Cover is compulsory.
- Super Cover reduces or waivers the excess amount.
- Cover, whether standard or super cover, does not apply when the hirer is
criminally negligent e.g. being involved in an accident while driving under the
influence of alcohol.
- Vineyard Car Hire does not offer Personal Accident Insurance (PAI).
- Any breach of the Terms and Conditions will result in all form of Cover
being considered null and void.

Delivery & Collection
- Delivery and collection within the Cape Peninsula is free of charge (for a
minimum hire period 3 days). As a rule the Cape Peninsula is defined as south of the N1 highway, north of Fish Hoek east of the Atlantic Coast and west of Cape Town
International airport,
- Any delivery and collection that does not take place within the area
specified above must be negotiated between Vineyard Car Hire and the hirer and
the delivery/collection fee will be as stipulated by Vineyard Car Hire.
- Delivery to the airport is free of charge between the hours of 07h00 and
20h30.
- The hirer will be charged an "out-of-hours" fee of R195.00 for any delivery
to the airport between 20h30 and 07h00.
- The hirer will be charged R95.00 if the vehicle is left at the airport at the
end of the hire period.
- In the event that the vehicle is returned to a city/town other than Cape
Town, a one-way drop-off fee will be charged. Please note that the
return city/town must be agreed to by Vineyard Car Hire.
To the topFines
- The hirer shall be responsible for all fines and penalties imposed for
parking or traffic offences during the rental period.
- Vineyard Car Hire shall be entitled, but not obliged, to pay all fines and
penalties on receipt and claim the amount from the hirer.
- The hirer shall be liable for an administrative fee of R200.00 should a fine
be imposed.

- A checklist is a document listing any existing damage to the vehicle at the
beginning of the hire period.
- Vineyard Car Hire will present a checklist to the hirer when handing over
the vehicle. Once both parties are satisfied that the checklist is correct, the
checklist will be signed by both parties.
- In the event of any loss of or damage to the vehicle, other than that
referred to in the checklist, which is caused by the negligence of the hirer or
driver, then the costs of the repairs or replacement of the items shall be borne
by the hirer.
